Just entered Costa Rican waters. No fish, sporadic dolphin visits.
Double portion of rum for all hands last night, just ’cause, bed time for Yayoi and Adam while Gary takes his solo night shift. 7:00 am, relieved Cheryl and Chris from their first watch after a hot and humid night of motoring through a few lightning storms. Couldn’t sleep, so turned on teh A/C for a couple hours and conked out hard.
Beautiful sunrise as the full moon set and a turtle poked his head up as we passed. Good omen for a good day. Jib and main for ten minutes, then complete glass. If we had tarred rigging it would be raining black. Hot!
Sun sight at meridian passage again, but I missed it by a few minutes, dang it. Gotta reduce it using Saint Hilaire’s method.
Was that a marlin fin?? Four foot long spiky fin ahead, half submerged, lazily floating before diving out of sight as we approached. Then a feeding frenzy, fish jumping, water frothing as a pod of dolphins wreaked havok. A few said hi as we passed.
