The plan was to meet everyone at the dock at Ala Wai on Friday, Aug 1, 2014, race, eat a big dinner and shove off that night for Pokai Bay, West Side Oahu to get the first leg of the Kauai trip done early. The next day we would make the crossing, spend a week at Hanalei Bay, then return around Aug 8 or 9. The low that was forecast should arrive around our return so we could get a nice downwind run back from Kauai as well. Perfect sailing downwind both ways! Well, THAT didn’t happen!
